Empowering Communities with WPPN’s Tidy Towns Insurance Scheme

At Waterford PPN, we’re proud to support our volunteer-led Tidy Towns groups through a robust and hassle-free insurance initiative. In partnership with IPB Insurance and Waterford City & County Council, we deliver a comprehensive policy that provides all-round protection—so you can focus on what you do best: making our neighbourhoods cleaner, greener, and more vibrant.

The Waterford City & County Council Tidy Towns Insurance Scheme offers free insurance cover for standard Tidy Towns activities to committees registered with the Waterford Public Participation Network (PPN). From 1st April, all eligible Tidy Towns groups who are members of Waterford PPN have been automatically included in the scheme—meaning you’re covered without any extra cost or paperwork.

Why It Matters:

Simple Access, Total Peace of Mind: Local Authorities handle the insurance, sparing volunteers from paperwork and ensuring seamless coverage that meets grant requirements.

Extensive Coverage Across Key Areas:

Property and contents (up to €50,000 / €20,000)

Money, all-risks, and liability protections for volunteers and the public (including Employers’, Public, Products, Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers, and Sexual Abuse Extension)

Tailored for Tidy Towns: Support is extended to any voluntary group focused on enhancing the public realm, not just formally titled “Tidy Towns” groups—provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

This initiative reflects the ethos of WPPN: enabling community groups with meaningful support, practical resources, and recognition for their invaluable work. Together, we safeguard not just spaces, but the spirit of community in Waterford.
