What is Waterford Community Safety Partnership (WCSP) ?

A collaborative initiative powered by the Policing, Security & Community Safety Act 2024, that brings together:

The Work of the Partnership:

  • Improve multi-agency response to local community safety issues.
  • Increase community confidence in service providers.
  • Act as a forum for discussion for community safety issues.
  • Undertake Public Consultations on community safety.
  • Coordinate action and prevent harmful behaviour.
  • Monitor, implement and review the local safety plan.
  • To develop and adopt a 3-year Local Community Safety Plan

Community Representatives on the Community Safety Partnership

Make sure the voice of the community is heard in decisions about safety and wellbeing across the county.

They bring forward issues raised by local groups such as anti-social behaviour, community safety concerns or environmental issues and ensure these are discussed with agencies like An Garda Síochána, Waterford City and County Council and other relevant services.

Community Reps also:

  • Share information back to the PPN and its member groups
  • Highlight emerging issues affecting communities
  • Contribute to the local safety plans and solutions

They do not deal with individual complaints or make decisions on their own, but they play an important role in connecting communities with decision-makers.

They make sure the community’s voice is heard in local decisions about safety and policing.
