Have Your Say: Cost of Disability Consultation

Waterford PPN members are encouraged to take part in a national consultation on the Cost of Disability, which will help shape future supports across Ireland.

What’s happening?

The Government is seeking input on:

  • A new Cost of Disability Payment to support extra daily living costs
  • A national summit (May 2026) to guide future policy

Why it matters

People with disabilities often face additional costs, including:

  • Energy and transport

  • Equipment and accessibility needs

This is an opportunity to ensure these real costs are recognised.

Who should respond?

  • People with disabilities
  • Families and carers
  • Community and voluntary groups
  • Organisations working in the sector

How to take part

Submissions can be made:

  • In writing (email/post)
  • By phone
  • By video (including ISL)

Key Date

The consultation closes in early April 2026.
