Public Consultation: Coastal Survey

Waterford City and County Council, together with the Waterford Outdoor Recreation Committee, is currently undertaking a Waterford Coastal Access Study to assess accessibility at designated beaches and coastal access points across the county.

The study will help inform a roadmap for future access and sustainable visitor experience improvements to support outdoor recreation activities such as walking, open water swimming, paddlesports and other water-based activities.  Any recommendations will take into account the sensitive nature of Waterford’s coastal environment and will be implemented incrementally as funding becomes available.

As part of the study, recreational user groups, sports clubs, community organisations, activity providers, landowners and other stakeholders are invited to complete a short survey and share their views on specific coastal sites.

  • Survey closing date: 15 September 2026
  • Time to complete: Approximately 5 minutes

Your feedback will help shape future improvements to coastal access and outdoor recreation opportunities across Waterford.

Please also share this invitation with any clubs, groups or organisations that may have an interest, particularly those within our coastal communities.

If you have any questions regarding the survey, please contact outdoorrecreation@waterfordcouncil.ie or drop me an email at dabbott@waterfordsportspartnership.ie.
