Waterford City and County Council is pleased to announce that the William Vincent Plaza refurbishment will be led by landscape architects Áit Urbanism + Landscape, with Waterford-based DBFL as consulting engineers on the project. Originally developed and opened in 2001 and has served as an important space overlooking the River Suir for the past 25 years.
The vision for William Vincent Wallace Plaza is to create a distinctive, landscape-led public space that places people and nature at its centre. A strong emphasis will be placed on planting and the landscape character of the plaza.
Waterford City and County Council is inviting members of the public to have their say in helping to shape the next stage of the design process.
You are invited to attend drop-in information sessions and meet the design team at the Tower Hotel, Waterford city from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, and from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, August 20th.
If you can’t make it in person, online submissions can now be made through Waterford City and County Council public consultations portal https://consult.waterfordcouncil.ie/
Closing date for submission and observations is 4.30pm, Friday, August 28th 2026.
