The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) for Large Scale Capital Projects

Deadline:  12pm on 28 July 2026

  • The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) supports major capital projects that revitalise rural towns and villages and encourage sustainable economic and social development. It is part of the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 investment programme.

The fund supports projects that regenerate town centres, tackle vacancy and dereliction, reuse heritage buildings, and develop community facilities and infrastructure in rural areas with populations under 10,000.

Two types of applications are typically supported:

    • Category 1: Large-scale, “shovel-ready” capital projects ready to proceed.

    • Category 2: Funding to develop proposals and plans for future major regeneration projects.

The programme aims to make rural towns more attractive places to live, work, invest and visit, supporting long-term regeneration and local economic activity.
