WPPN Community & Voluntary Awards Launch

in collaboration with BHP Insurance, Cairde Credit Union & Waterford Credit Union, Dept of Rural and County Development and the Gaeltacht, Expressway, Local Link Waterford, South East Energy Agency, Waterford City & County Council, Waterford Community Safety Partnership, and Waterford Volunteer Centre.

The 21st Waterford PPN Community & Voluntary Awards were officially launched at The Park Hotel on Thursday afternoon, August 7th.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Mayor of Waterford City & County Council, Cllr. John Pratt, praised the work of the PPN:

“Waterford has a proud tradition of volunteering and community action. It is what connects our towns, neighbourhoods and rural areas and through the PPN, over 780 groups are working together to shape a better, more inclusive, and more vibrant Waterford.”

Celebrating Waterford’s Community Spirit

The Waterford PPN Community & Voluntary Awards are the only awards in Waterford dedicated to recognising the commitment, vibrancy, and positive impact of the community and voluntary sector.

These awards:

  • Honour the dedication and passion of volunteers and community groups
  • Promote the importance of inclusion, wellbeing, and local development
  • Highlight the vital role of volunteerism in building a stronger, more connected society

Winner: €700 per category

2 Runners-up: €300 each per category

Individual Volunteer Awards

  • Junior Volunteer of the Year
  • Age Friendly Volunteer of the Year
  • Board/Committee Member of the Year

Prize: Crystal award & certificate of achievement

Pride of Place National Award

One standout group will be chosen from the seven category winners to receive the Pride of Place National Award. This group will go on to represent Waterford in the National All Island Pride of Place Awards in 2026.
