Local Community Development Committee (LCDC)

The LCDC has primary responsibility for coordinating, planning and overseeing local, community and rural development funding.
Established under the Local Government Reform Act 2014 and born from the policy vision laid out in Putting People First (2012), Waterford LCDC officially came into being in May 2014

Purpose
Waterford LCDC leads community development by:
Coordinating local, community, and rural development funding.
Aligning programmes and reducing duplication.
Supporting citizen and community engagement.
Ensuring resources match community needs.
Promoting learning, feedback, and new funding opportunities.
Key Functions
Develop, adopt, and monitor the community elements of the Local Economic & Community Plan (LECP).
Adopt a statement on the economic elements of the LECP.
Oversee publicly funded programmes (LCDP, RDP, SICAP).
Publish an annual report on performance.
Membership
19 members total
9 statutory: elected officials, agencies, and Waterford City & County Council.
10 non-statutory: community, social inclusion, environment, farming, employers, and Waterford LEADER Partnership.
5 PPN nominees: 2 Community & Voluntary, 2 Social Inclusion, 1 Environment.
Gender balance is monitored by the Department and funders.

Report back to the PPN membership.
Team of 5: 2 Community & Voluntary, 2 Social Inclusion, 1 Environment.
Meetings
~10 times per year (second Thursday morning, online, 10AM, ~90 minutes).
Preceded by Local Action Group (LAG) sessions.
Sub-groups formed as needed.
