Community groups, organisations, and partnerships across Waterford are encouraged to apply for the Community Safety Fund 2026, which is now open for applications.
With a total of €4.75 million available nationwide, this funding offers a valuable opportunity to support projects that enhance safety, wellbeing, and resilience in local communities.
What is the Community Safety Fund?
The Community Safety Fund is a national initiative that redirects money seized from criminal activity back into communities.
Funds recovered by the Criminal Assets Bureau and An Garda Síochána are reinvested into local projects that aim to:
- Improve community safety and wellbeing
- Reduce fear of crime
- Support safer, stronger communities
- Divert individuals away from criminal behaviour
Since launching in 2022, the fund has already supported 127 projects nationwide.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to a wide range of groups, including:
- Community and voluntary organisations
- Local partnerships and NGOs
- Social enterprises
- Collaborative (consortium) applications
Projects should focus on community safety or youth justice, and innovative approaches are especially encouraged.
Funding Available
- Grants range from €20,000 to €150,000
- Total fund: €4.75 million
- Projects must clearly demonstrate how they will improve safety in their community
