EirGrid has begun a new phase of marine and coastal surveys along Ireland’s south coast as part of its Powering Up Offshore – South Coast programme. These surveys will help inform how offshore wind energy can be connected to the national grid, supporting Ireland’s transition to cleaner, renewable energy.
This project is a key step toward delivering up to 900 megawatts of renewable electricity enough to power nearly one million homes and contributing to national climate targets.
As part of this work, EirGrid is hosting a series of public information sessions across coastal communities. If you missed the in-person events, there’s still an opportunity to take part online:
📅 Online Webinar
🖥️ Platform: Zoom
🗓️ Date: Thursday, 23rd April
⏰ Time: 7:00pm – 8:30pm
The webinar is a chance for community members, groups, and stakeholders to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share their views. EirGrid has highlighted the importance of hearing from local communities to help shape how the project develops.
Participation is open to all, and community input will play an important role in ensuring the project reflects local needs and priorities.
