Waterford community groups, Tidy Towns committees and environmental organisations are set to benefit from a major new national funding initiative following the launch of the Local Environmental Action Fund (LEAF) in Tramore.
The new fund, a partnership between IPB Insurance and all 31 local authorities, will provide more than €3 million nationwide to support local environmental, biodiversity and climate action projects. Around €100,000 will be available in each local authority area through matched funding arrangements.
The fund is open to Tidy Towns groups, Residents’ Associations and voluntary community organisations, including groups registered with Waterford PPN. Projects focused on environmental improvement, biodiversity, sustainability and community climate action are expected to benefit.
The initiative was officially launched by Minister for Local Government and Planning John Cummins in Tramore and aims to support practical, grassroots environmental action in communities across Ireland.
Groups interested in learning more about the fund and upcoming application details can read the full article from WLR FM or keep an eye on updates from Waterford City and County Council and Waterford PPN.
