Urgent Request from Mayor John Pratt – Covid 19

Waterford City and County Council would like to commend and support the community and volunteering response to the current Covid 19 public health emergency.

To assist in addressing the needs of our most vulnerable at this time, a dedicated confidential community support helpline 1800 250 185 and email contact covidsupport@waterfordcouncil.ie has been established by Waterford City and County Council to assist at risk members of the public in accessing non-emergency and non-medical supports and advice. The helpline is focused primarily on ensuring that vulnerable members of the community or those living alone can access deliveries of groceries, medicine and fuels.

What is required now is a co-ordinated community response to this emergency with all voluntary and statutory agencies collaborating in support of our communities and particularly our most vulnerable members.

To that end, we are requesting voluntary, community and sporting groups who are providing services to our vulnerable citizens to complete our survey

just hit the “Submit” button at the end of the survey as soon as possible. This will provide us with a complete database of groups across city & county who are providing services to assist the most vulnerable in Waterford City & County.

This information will enable us to link our most at risk citizens with groups providing essential services and to identify where the gaps in services are. Our aim is to ensure that all our vulnerable citizens are looked after in these difficult times.

If you are already providing a service in your local community or parish or mobilising to start such a service, we would be grateful if you would complete the survey now.

Please note that information submitted will only be used for the purposes of co-ordinating community volunteers during the Covid 19 crisis. Any queries regarding the use of personal data should be referred to dataprotection@waterfordcouncil.ie

A sincere thank you for your ongoing work and especially to those providing services to those most in need at this time.

Stay safe.

Kind regards,

John Pratt,

Mayor of Waterford City & County
