Lisduggan Credit Union Launches €150,000 Community Fund Deadline 29/5/26

For decades, Lisduggan Credit Union (LCU) has been a quiet engine behind local jerseys, pitch signs, and community events. Today, LCU is taking that commitment to a historic new level with the launch of its first ever Community Fund.

While LCU will continue its long-standing tradition of local sponsorships, this new €150,000 fund is designed to go deeperproviding the substantial financial backing needed for projects that leave a lasting legacy in Waterford.

CEO of Lisduggan Credit Union Joe Busher said,“At Lisduggan Credit Union, we’ve always been proud to support the clubs and groups that make our community feel like home. Sponsorship has been our way of saying ‘we’re with you’ for years, and that isn’t changing. However, we realised we could do even more.”

“This is the first time in our history we have created a dedicated Community Fund of this scale. We’re investing up to €150,000 in 2026 because we want to see those ‘big ideas’ come to life—whether it’s a new community garden, a sensory room, or a sustainable energy project. It’s about strengthening our community through the true Credit Union ethos of people helping people.”

At its heart, this fund is a testament to the power of the Credit Union movement. It is a reminder that Lisduggan Credit Union is not just a financial institution, but a member-owned cooperative where every person plays a part.

“This fund is only possible because of our members.  When people choose to save and borrow with us, they aren’t just managing their finances—they are investing in Waterford. By working together, the Credit Union and its members can achieve wonderful things, ensuring our community remains a vibrant, supportive, and sustainable place for everyone.”
